5 Things to Do In and Around Vacaville, California this Fall

Celebrate the most beautiful season in Northern California with our top five favorite fall activities!

There is a reason fall is our favorite season here in Northern California.  Picture-perfect weather, gorgeous turning leaves, and so many things to do outdoors – who could ask for more?  We’re so excited for autumn we decided to put together a quick list of the best things to get out and do around town.  So what are you waiting for – get out and enjoy it while it lasts!

 Farmers’ Market

The Vacaville Farmers’ Market wraps up it’s season on October 27th, so get your fresh local goodies while you can! Early autumn brings a bountiful harvest, and it’s a great time to snatch up some apples, grapes, root veggies, nuts, and squash.  The farmers market is now located at the Creekwalk Plaza at Andrew’s Park and runs Saturdays through October 27th from 9AM-1PM.

Creekwalk Trail

Observe the change of seasons in all it’s glory with a stroll down the Creekwalk trail in Andrews Park.  Both the downtown and Creekwalk trail are a riot of fall colors in October and November.   Head out to the trail after a rare rain and you can even spot some small waterfalls during your walk.  By the way, if you happen to be a photography buff you will find ample opportunity for some gorgeous shots.

Sweet Pea’s Nursery and Pet Boutique

This local gem of a shop has a beautiful variety of pumpkins for your family and they are, of course, dog friendly so you family can peruse the pumpkins with your four-legged family member in tow.  Don’t forget to check out all the beautiful succulents as well. Don’t forget to visit their Facebook page to see the latest creative classes you can take at Sweet Peas – succulents and pumpkins can be crafted into gorgeous centerpieces and gifts!

Western Railway Museum Pumpkin Patch Festival

Each year the Western Railway Museum puts on a Pumpkin Patch that is unique and includes lots of fall fun for everyone! Begin your trip by boarding the historic train at the museum for a five mile scenic trip to Gum Grove Station, where you can check out a giant hay bale fort, take a tractor ride, enjoy snacks and home-made specialties and of course, pick out the perfect pumpkin.   There are shaded picnic areas available.   The Pumpkin Patch Festival happens every Saturday ad Sunday from 9:30-5:00 starting October 13th, through October 28th.  Tickets available on the museum website.

Vacaville Kid Fest

Fall fun in Andrews Park. This annual free event began in 1999 and is for “the kid in all of us”. Take a fall stroll through the park and the Creekwalk and enjoy tons of local vendors, food, and fun activities for the whole family.  Children have the opportunity to see public safety vehicles up close, have their face painted, and enjoy a variety of no and low-cost activities.   The event takes place on Saturday, October 20th beginning at 10am.  There is something for the whole family at this fun local event.
