Check out some of our go-to places for last-minute holiday shopping in Vacaville.
2019 Merriment on Main festivities and information!
Festivities begin at 4:30 p.m. on December 3rd, and the tree lighting usually happens between 6:20 and 6:40 p.m. Tag your photos on Instagram with #MerrimentonMain or #ilovevacaville to be featured in our Merriment on Main gallery!
Merriment on Main has been a Vacaville tradition since 1983, decorating and lighting the community Christmas tree on Main Street on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving. Starting in 2018, the event was turned over to a non-profit organization owned by the community with a Board of Directors of local volunteers and civic leaders to plan and carry out the event. We'll see you there for holiday fun!
Warm up in the evening by heading down to Vacaville Museum at 213 Buck Avenue for steaming hot onion soup (a Merriment on Main tradition)! Then wander through Downtown to enjoy performances from local choirs, dancers performing classic carols and timeless pieces on stages throughout the area.
Want to skip the hassle of parking? On Dec. 3rd, from 5-9:00 pm, those who wish to avoid parking during the Merriment on Main event can take a City Coach shuttle. It’s free! The pick-up spots are on Davis Street at the Park and Ride, the Vacaville Ice Sports on Porter Way, and downtown at E. Main St and Wilson St. The buses will arrive and depart every 15 minutes.
While you’re Downtown, don’t forget to stop in at the Festival of Trees and enjoy the 3-day festival, which kicks off with a Gala Dinner the Monday after Thanksgiving. Watch as the Vacaville Skating Center transforms into a glowing gallery filled with 50 exquisitely decorated, full-size Christmas trees, plus another 50 table-top mini-trees - all for sale to the highest bidder.
The holiday showcase also features a bazaar of finely crafted gifts and homemade baked goods; regular visits and photo opportunities with Santa and Mrs. Claus; and entertainment by talented musicians, choral groups and performers.
