Travis AFB Aviation Museum

Located right here in our backyard, the
Travis Air Force Base Aviation Museum (also known as the Jimmy Doolittle Air & Space Museum / Travis Heritage Center) is an incredible destination for aviation enthusiasts, history buffs, and families alike. The museum showcases the rich history of airlift and tanker operations in the U.S. Air Force, featuring an impressive outdoor airpark with dozens of historic aircraft, as well as indoor exhibits filled with artifacts, memorabilia, and interactive displays.

How Civilians Can Visit the Museum
Because the museum is located on an active military installation (Travis Air Force Base), access for civilian visitors requires a few steps depending on base access protocols:

Check Base Access Requirements: Base entry rules can occasionally change. General visitors typically enter through the designated visitor control center or follow current base access guidelines. It is always recommended to check the museum's official website or call ahead to confirm current gate entry procedures for civilians.

Identification: All adult visitors must carry a valid, REAL ID-compliant driver’s license or state identification card, along with current vehicle registration and proof of insurance if driving onto the base.

Plan Your Trip: The museum is typically open Tuesday through Sunday (usually from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM), but be sure to verify hours before heading out, as schedules can occasionally be affected by base operations or holidays.

From I-80 in Fairfield, exit Airbase Pkwy/Waterman Blvd
Follow Airbase Parkway to Travis AFB
Military I.D. card required to enter Travis AFB.
If you are a civilian visitor,
DO NOT DRIVE TO THE MAIN GATE.
Please stop at the Visitor Control Center before the Main Gate to get your pass to enter. When you are approved, the Museum provides a shuttle for pick-up.
*Last pick-up is at 2pm.
