Fri. September 5 from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at IL Fiorello Olive Oil CompanyIL Fiorello Celebrates International Day of Charity: Il Fiorello Olive Oil Company is celebrating the United Nation’s International Day of Charity by donating 15% of oil and balsamic sales on September 5th to the Solano Land Trust so they can continue their mission of making sure people have access to the beautiful lands in our region. A representative from the Solano Land Trust will also be on-site at IL Fiorello to share more about their mission.You can visit IL Fiorello at 2625 Mankas Corner Road from 11:00 am-5:00 pm on that day to purchase oil to support the Land Trust, and enjoy olive oil tastings, lunch at their bistro, and gelato. Add a visit to one of the Solano Land Trust’s nearby properties to enjoy the outdoors and good nutrition.

Sat. September 6 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Vallejo Swett RanchNature Hike: Explore the hills between Fairfield, Benicia, and Vallejo. Solano Land Trust docents will share insights about the birds, butterflies, and other wildlife that call the Swett Ranches home, and you will get a vigorous workout! Space is limited. Hike level: Moderate to moderately strenuous. Registration is recommended.

Fri. September 12 from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Patwino Worrtla Kodoi Dihi Open Space Park

Community Science Volunteer Opportunity – Oak Monitoring: Join Solano Land Trust for an oak monitoring Community Science volunteer activity! Participants will work on monitoring the health of the oak trees at the beautiful Patwino Worrtla Kodoi Dihi Open Space Park. Solano Land Trust will provide gloves and have extra water but bring your own gloves if you prefer. Be sure to dress in layers and bring sunscreen, water, and knee pads if you use them for gardening.No experience is necessary – training will be provided.Registration is recommended.

Sat. September 13 from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Patwino Worrtla Kodoi Dihi Open Space Park

Nature Hike: Explore the hills between Suisun Valley and Green Valley and see sweeping views of Solano County and beyond. The park’s scenic blue and live oaks, chaparral, native wildflowers, and fascinating geology make this a beautiful hike full of unique plants and birds to see. Make sure to pack water, snacks, sun or rain protection as needed, and walking sticks if you use them. Moderately strenuous, 4-6 miles. Cancels for rain or extreme weather.

Sat. September 13 from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Lynch Canyon Open Space

Volunteer Service Day: Join the Solano Land Trust Trail Crew every second Saturday of the month in partnership with Solano County Parks to work on trails and projects at Lynch Canyon Open Space! Help take care of Lynch Canyon’s 1,000-plus acres. Projects include improving trails, fixing fences, weeding, and more. No experience necessary. Participants learn while volunteering.Lynch Canyon is an open space park owned by Solano Land Trust and operated through a partnership by Solano County Parks.

Fri. September 19 from 7:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. at Rush Ranch Open Space

Astronomy Night: Join astronomer Jon Pannier for Astronomy Nights at Rush Ranch! These popular nights of informational star gazing occur monthly between May and September. Visit solanolandtrust.org/events-news/recurring-events for the full list of dates in this series. Each month will have a different presentation topic to begin the night, and then participants will move outside to stargaze. Please wear layers as Rush Ranch gets chilly when the sun goes down, and bring strong bug spray for mosquitoes! If you have your own telescope and are familiar with setting it up and using it, you may bring it, but please arrive before dark. Those arriving after sunset are asked to dim their headlights.

Sat. September 20 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Rush Ranch Open Space

Get the Rush! at Rush Ranch: Get the Rush is a series of fun, free activities for the whole family, offered on the third Saturday of each month at Rush Ranch. Guests can try blacksmithing at the forge, explore pop-up shops and exciting exhibit tables, take guided hikes through the marsh, and ride the wagon!

This is also a great time to get involved and sign up for Solano Land Trust volunteer opportunities such as Trail Crew, Community Science, the Docent Program, Blacksmith Shop, and the Rush Ranch Outfitters Shop!

Rush Ranch is open to the public 7 days a week year-round. Open hours are 8am to 5pm November 1 through February 28, and 8am to 7pm March 1 through October 31.

Annual Volunteer Appreciation Picnic: Solano Land Trust is excited to recognize and honor their dedicated volunteers at their annual Volunteer Appreciation Picnic. If you have volunteered with Solano Lant Trust, you are invited to the picnic on September 20, 2025 at Rush Ranch! There will be recognitions, awards, and gifts for all! RSVP is required.

Sat. September 27 from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Lynch Canyon Open Space

Nature Hike: This hike at Lynch Canyon will take visitors westward along Middle Valley Trail leading to Prairie Ridge. Expect a five-mile hike at a moderate but even pace over uneven ground. There are steep climbs over several hills with the longest at Prairie Ridge, but the views are worth it! Please note there is a parking fee of $5 at Lynch Canyon (cash or check).
