Director of Barketing
Honorary Canine Ambassador | September 2026–September 2027

Visit Vacaville is searching for one charismatic, camera-ready canine to serve as our next Director of Barketing! This honorary position is designed for a very good dog who is ready to represent Vacaville, welcome four-legged visitors and help showcase the city’s dog-friendly places to stay, dine, play and explore. The selected pup will be announced in September 2026 and serve as Visit Vacaville’s official canine ambassador through September 2027. The role builds upon Visit Vacaville’s original Director of Barketing program, which invited a local dog to promote pet-friendly activities, dining destinations and accommodations.

Position Overview
The Director of Barketing will participate in approximately six to eight scheduled appearances, photo shoots or promotional opportunities during the one-year term.

Potential assignments may include:
- Taste of Vacaville restaurant week
- I Love Vacaville Week
- Vaca-Con
- The opportunity to ride on a Visit Vacaville float in the Fiesta Days Parade
- Dogust and National Dog Day activities
- Seasonal photo shoots and social media content
- Media appearances and pet-friendly tourism promotions

Appearances will be scheduled in advance and coordinated with the selected dog’s owner.


Ideal Candidate
Our ideal Director of Barketing is:
- Friendly and comfortable meeting new people
- Well-behaved in public settings
- Comfortable around children and other dogs
- Photogenic and able to pose for photos and video
- Comfortable attending community events
- Available with their owner for six to eight scheduled commitments
- Skilled at sitting, staying, smiling or simply looking adorable
- Willing to work for praise, treats and local celebrity status

Dogs of all breeds, sizes, ages and backgrounds are encouraged to apply. Nominees should live in Vacaville or have a strong connection to the Vacaville community.

Responsibilities
The selected Director of Barketing will:
- Serve as an honorary canine ambassador for Visit Vacaville
- Appear in Visit Vacaville photography, videos and social media content
- Attend select community events and tourism promotions
- Help showcase Vacaville’s dog-friendly hotels, restaurants, attractions, & outdoor experiences
- Represent the friendly, playful and welcoming spirit of Vacaville
- Maintain an exemplary record of good-dog behavior while on duty

Compensation and Benefits
This is an unpaid, honorary community ambassador position.
