Pumpkin Patch Picking in Vacaville, California
Autumn is upon us and Halloween is right around the corner - pick the perfect pumpkin patch with our handy guide!
Spooky season is creeping in…
As the days get shorter and fall begins to settle over Northern California, there’s no denying it—Halloween is tiptoeing closer! And what better way to celebrate than rounding up your favorite little ghouls and goblins for a day of pumpkin pickin’, hayridin’, maze wanderin’ and good old-fashioned fall fun?
Lucky for us here in Vacaville, you don’t have to travel far to find some seriously gourd-geous fall adventures. From the country roads of Pleasants Valley and the farms of Suisun Valley to one of the most famous corn mazes around, Vacaville is just a broomstick ride away from some fantastic pumpkin patches.
Whether you’re searching for the perfectly plump carving pumpkin, looking to conquer a massive corn maze, hoping to take a train ride straight to a pumpkin patch, or simply chasing those picture-perfect fall vibes, grab your flannel and get ready—here are some of our favorite pumpkin patches around Vacaville.
🌻 The Great Pleasants Valley Pumpkin Patch — Vacaville
This one is especially exciting for 2026: Morningsun Herb Farm is launching its first Great Pleasants Valley Pumpkin Patch, transforming the beautiful countryside just outside Vacaville into a month-long celebration of pumpkins, fall flowers, games and community fun. The patch opens October 3–4 and continues on weekends through the season.
Beyond picking out a pumpkin, families can check out the Great Pumpkin Play Patch, wander through the fall flowers, snap plenty of countryside photos and return throughout October for special events. The Great Scarecrow Showdowntakes place October 10, the Great Pie-Off follows October 17, succulent-and-dried-flower pumpkin workshops happen October 24–25, and Halloween brings trick-or-treating, costumed donkeys and even a pumpkin-hurling trebuchet challenge.
📍 6137 Pleasants Valley Road, Vacaville
📅 Pumpkin Patch: Weekends beginning October 3; Visit Vacaville currently lists the season through November 1.
🕐 Farm Hours: Wednesday–Sunday, 9 AM–5 PM. Because the pumpkin patch is promoted specifically as a weekend attraction, I’d recommend checking Morningsun’s schedule before visiting for individual events.
What you can do: Pick pumpkins, explore the kid-friendly Play Patch, enjoy fall flowers and photo ops, see the scarecrow displays and take part in rotating contests, workshops and Halloween activities.
🌾 Sweet Pea’s Pumpkin Patch — Vacaville
Fall gets a little sweeter at Sweet Pea's Nursery. This longtime Vacaville favorite combines its seasonal pumpkin patch with the nursery’s plants, festive décor, local goods and its annual Scarecrow Contest. Even better for animal lovers, Sweet Pea’s is known for making its pumpkin-patch experience pet-friendly, so four-legged family members can get in on the fall photos too.
Look for pumpkins in plenty of shapes and sizes, seasonal activities and one-of-a-kind scarecrow creations throughout the nursery. And keep your eyes open—you never know when the infamous Mr. Strawman might make an appearance. 🌾👀

🌽 Cool Patch Pumpkins — Dixon
If you want to go big, head just up the road to Dixon and Cool Patch Pumpkins. The sprawling farm has become a regional fall destination, particularly for its enormous, custom-designed corn maze—Cool Patch has previously earned Guinness World Records for its massive mazes.
But getting lost is only part of the adventure. Wander through the pumpkin fields in search of your perfect pick, climb around the hay castle, plunge into the giant corn bath, take a tractor-pulled hayride and refuel with seasonal food and treats. It’s the kind of pumpkin patch where you can easily turn pumpkin shopping into an afternoon adventure.

🎃 Larry’s Produce Pumpkin Patch — Suisun Valley/Fairfield
If your ideal fall day includes farm-fresh produce and pumpkins, make your way into Suisun Valley to Larry's Produce. For more than 30 years, Larry’s has transformed part of its farm into a fall pumpkin destination—and unlike many seasonal patches, Larry’s says it grows its own pumpkins, with more than 40 varieties ranging from traditional orange pumpkins to specialty selections.
There’s plenty for little pumpkins to do, too. Explore the corn maze, jump into the corn pit, wander among the pumpkins and enjoy a hayride when available. The best part? Larry’s currently says entry and its pumpkin-patch activities are free, making it an especially easy family fall outing.
📍 4606 Suisun Valley Road, Fairfield
🕐 Hours: 9 AM–5 PM every day except Wednesday. Larry’s FAQ says its regular farm season runs from mid-June through the Tuesday before Thanksgiving.
What you can do: Shop more than 40 varieties of pumpkins, explore the corn maze, play in the corn pit, take plenty of fall photos and enjoy hayrides when staffing permits. You can also browse Larry’s enormous farm stand for fresh seasonal produce while you’re there.
🚂 Western Railway Museum Pumpkin Patch Festival — Suisun City
This isn’t your typical drive-up pumpkin patch—you get there by vintage train.

Once you arrive, spend the day tackling a giant hay fort, riding the zipline, visiting animals in the petting zoo, taking a tractor ride, listening to live music and even launching pumpkins with the pumpkin chucking attraction. Pumpkins, food and beverages are also available for purchase.
